چکیده
A study of microwave sintering uranium dioxide pellets has been performed with the aim to densify material. Microwave heating carried out in a 2.45 GHz multimode cavity, designed fit different requirements linked nuclear ceramics. Hybrid and direct (i.e., without susceptor) conditions were out. In hybrid condition, thermal cycles at temperatures up 1700°C, rate 20 °C/min dwell times 10–60 min could be applied samples. The sintered specimens exhibited high values densities (92.6–94.6% theoretical density) grain size range 9.1–11.8 ?m, which is close results obtained conventional longer cycles. pellet tested configuration only heated until 950°C, showing impossibility heat UO2 furnace help susceptor.

Full densification of Molybdenum powders using Spark Plasma Sintering
Pure molybdenum powder was sintered using Spark Plasma Sintering under various temperatures, and holding times, under a pressure of 77 MPa and a heating rate at 700°C/min. After sintering, a carbide layer was observed at the surface. The carbide layer thickness, the relative density of the sample as well as the microhardness and the grain size of Mo were measured. The carbide thickness depends ...
متن کاملDensification Kinetics and Structural Evolution During Microwave and Pressureless Sintering of 15 nm Titanium Nitride Powder
Microwave sintering (MWS) of commercially available 15-nm-size nanocrystalline TiN powder was studied. Densification kinetics and grain growth mechanisms of nano-TiN were evaluated using non-isothermal heating up to 1500 °C with variable heating rates. A true nanocrystalline ceramic with ~80-nm-size grains and 94.5 % theoretical density was obtained via MWS consolidation at 1400 °C. At higher t...

The rapidly solidified prealloyed alpha brass powder with a size range of 40 to 100 μm produced by water atomization process was consolidated using liquid phase sintering process. The relationships between sintering temperature, physic-mechanical properties and microstructural characteristics were investigated. Maximum densification was obtained at 930 °C, under 600 MPa compacting pressure,...

Microwave sintering possesses unique attributes and has the potential to be development as a new technique for controlling microstructure and to improve the properties of advanced ceramics. Because microwave radiation penetrates most ceramics, uniform volumetric heating is possible. Thermal gradients, which are produced during conventional sintering because of conductive and radioactive heat tr...
